Traveling is such an exciting thing to do, and it can make you into a new person, provide you with new experiences, new ideas, and even new perspectives on life. You might find a partner or friends, or start a different career, all thanks to traveling. Even if you go, have a wonderful time, and then return home again, the experience will have changed you for the better.
Traveling to exciting places often involves long-haul flights, and this can be off-putting not because people are afraid of flying, but because they don’t want to be bored for hours and hours at a time on a plane.
This shouldn’t be a concern, however. There are plenty of things you can do on a plane to keep yourself occupied. Take a look at some of our suggestions and then pick a long haul destination – you’ll be grateful you did!
Watch A Movie
Most of the airplanes used for long-haul flights will have small screens on the back of the seat in front of you, so you no longer have to crane your neck to see the large screen at the front (or try to sleep if you are in front of the large screen!). Now you have complete control over what you watch and when you watch it, and as technology advances, there will be even more choice.
There will be plenty of movie, or even TV, choices for you, and no matter what your preferred genre, you should be able to find something to watch. Choose two or three movies and settle down for a comfortable flight. Remember, though, that you should get up and move about too, as this is good for your circulation, and is recommended by Stoptheclot.org.
Play Online Games
Thanks to modern technology, many of the large planes that are required for long-haul flights have WiFi. It might be that you need to pay a little extra to use it, but that could be well worth the expense if being online will keep you occupied throughout the flight. There is so much you can do when you have a WiFi connection for your smartphone, tablet, or perhaps a laptop. For example, you can:
Listen To Music
Music has a brilliant calming effect, so whether you’re feeling bored or you are scared of being in the air, or you’re anxious about the airport at your destination, plug in your earphones and play your favorite tunes, and you’ll soon be feeling better. Not only can you listen to the music itself, but it is something that can be done while you’re doing other things such as taking a walk around the cabin or completing puzzles, for example.
Get Some Sleep
Perhaps the easiest way to make time fly when you’re on a long-haul flight is to sleep through as much of it as you can. This is sometimes easier said than done, especially if you are excited about reaching your destination or you can’t seem to get comfortable. However, bringing an extra travel cushion with you (or asking the flight attendants for one) and clearing your mind of as much as possible will certainly help you to drift off.
