Quilt Show Guest Speaker: Weeks Ringle, Author and Co-Founder of Modern Quilt Studio. Presentations at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. Weeks Ringle is a professional quiltmaker and co-founder of Modern Quilt Studio, a design studio in Oak Park, Illinois. Weeks and her husband, Bill Kerr, are pioneers of the Modern Quilt Movement. Weeks made her first modern quilt in 1987 to rethink the possibilities of the American quilt as being expressive of the time in which we live. Every odd year WOW Quilt Guild presents a quilt show. This year's show, "Splash of Colour", celebrates fabric and design in quilts of all colors and styles from traditional to modern quilts, art quilts, collage quilts, challenge quilts and Quilts of Valor. Quilting techniques used include traditional machine piecing, paper-piecing, applique', and hand piecing. The raffle quilt, titled "Splash of Stars", is king-sized measuring 100" x 100" and features 16 unique large paper-pieced stars in blues and greens on a soft light gray background. The quilt includes 12 embroidered smaller stars and a blue and green pieced border. The machine quilting features beautiful feathers, meandering stipple, and circles. Raffle ticket will be on sale for $1 per chance to win. Drawing held at 4:00 pm and need not be present to win.
