Gummy52 the developer on the project, shared an image of a cease-and-desist email coming from Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP which is a legal firm that represents World of Warcraft developer Blizzard. The letter states that the server constitutes an infringement of Blizzard's intellectual rights.
"We understand that through your involvement with Felmyst You are engaged with the creation, dissemination, and hosting of what is known as 'emulated server software (hereafter"Infringing services")," ),'" the letter states. "Among other things, [these] Infringing Services allow users to play altered and/or illegitimate copies of WoW online [without] the need for a legitimately-purchased copy or subscription."
ArsTechnica has further details on the letter which continues to declare that "Blizzard has never been authorized to do so and, in reality, explicitly prohibits any of the activities mentioned."
It continu"Our client's copyrights are extremely valuable and Blizzard takes this matter very serious. As you'll see, your activity causes serious and irreparable damage to buy WoTLK Classic Gold value and integrity of our client's products or intellectual properties."
