Tie and Dye Workshop

• A comprehensive theory of the Art of Tie and Dye.
• Learn 3 different resist techniques to dye a garment.
• Make your own design masterpieces on 5 pieces of cloth provided and take them home.
• Learn to use day to day objects in creating unique designs.

Tie-dyeing is the art of folding or tying fabric to create resists that stop the dye from being absorbed into parts of the fabric, thereby leaving "blank areas", creating the coolest possible designs you can imagine. Learn this fascinating art with us by using basic techniques, Shibori and by using accessories. This workshop will start with a10 minutes briefing session about dyes and dyeing techniques. We’ll cover the traditional folding and shibori techniques along with some experimentation using accessories like paper clips, pencil, etc. As part of the workshop, you’ll get to try these techniques on 3 cloth pieces provided to you. We also encourage you to get a cotton based garment - Dupatta, Pillow cover, T-shirt, etc., for you to dye after the workshop.

The dyes we use for this workshop are for teaching the technique only and tend to fade with time. For long lasting results on your garment, you may need to buy a different dye.

If you are getting your own garments to dye, avoid any material that is not a blend of cotton.
