I'm thinking that my perception is that the WOW WOTLK Classic Gold Horde and the Alliance have been moving closer and closer but Battle for Azeroth pushes the two sides apart again. It's all about that first experience as a faction. But what was the impetus to separate the two again?

John Hight: Just as they were historically, are they right? They'll unite, battle a common foe and then a rift can form. And this is a pretty huge rift that took place during Legion. It was an difficult alliance for the Alliance and Horde in order to defeat an adversary that they shared, Legion. But now that the Legion is defeated--spoilers aside, I'm sure everyone knows that at some point we'll to finish the expansion.

However, things do happen that have left marks between the two sides. In the beginning of Battle for Azeroth that cement it. A portion of the images you'll see is the scene that has Sylvanas sitting in front of Teldrassil with her arms burning. In the beginning of the film scene, the incident occurred before the Alliance eventually says, "Okay, we've had it" before they take on Lordaeron. This means that some really heavy happenings are expected to take place between them. And we just felt like this would be an extremely awesome time to dive back to that old fight among Alliance and Horde.

Two new continents...are the cartographers from Azeroth simply really bad at their job? What are the reasons these new landmasses continue to pop up?It's harsh out there. I'm talking about sea-going Warcraft and blimps. You're not able to see everything. [laughs] They're pretty much crossing known channels. Will it be something like Pandaria which is secretly buried in the mists of time?

No. This was actually talked about in some fiction, and it's an issue that's been avoided within the game. It was however an area that's totally unexplored. The point is the fact that each side trying to bring together more allies in this big fight. And the last thing they would like to do is get one of these locations, as well as the people who reside there, fall in the hands of the opposing side.

I've always been more of an Alliance player. In terms of storytelling, I've gotten some criticism from Horde friends who claim that their lore is more interesting. The Horde is the one that has fallen from grace, which makes them feel a less relatable in some ways, while the humans appear to be the kind of people, who end up being the dicks.

You know that's interesting. I am Horde more often, however I like at cheap WOTLK Gold playing both side so I have a top level character on each side. I also think that I go around and round on my own story. I'm experiencing ... often I think "Ah! The Alliance is such a great story! The Horde must have this!"
