NYSHealth’s second annual conference on Building Healthy Communities, “New Approaches to Neighborhood Health,” will take place Wednesday, November 13, 2019.

The keynote speaker will be Justin Garrett Moore, Executive Director of the New York City Public Design Commission. Mr. Moore’s work is focused on prioritizing quality, excellence, and equity within the public realm, as well as ensuring accessibility, diversity, and inclusion in New York City’s public buildings, spaces, and art. Mr. Moore is the co-founder of Urban Patch, a social enterprise focused on community revitalization and design in inner cities. He also serves on the board of directors of ioby, an NYSHealth grantee that empowers local leaders to crowdfund the resources they need to make their neighborhoods healthier.

In his previous role as Senior Urban Designer for New York City’s Department of City Planning, Mr. Moore was responsible for conducting complex urban design plans and studies of the physical design and use of sites including infrastructure, public spaces, land use patterns, and neighborhood character.

Following the keynote remarks, two panel discussions will feature partners from across the State:

The “Community-Led Action” panel will focus on examples of how people can lead the work in their own communities to create long-lasting change.

The “Using Data to Promote Social Cohesion” panel will highlight ways that research and data can shape efforts to improve social cohesion at the community level.

Please R.S.V.P. by November 1, 2019. The conference is free for attendees, but registration is required.
