Course Description

Data collection is an integral parts of any monitoring and evaluation process and is a key ingredient of informed decision making. Data collection was in the past executed through paper and pen method, which made them prone to error, inconveniences and high costs. Nowadays, instead of collecting data on paper using a pen, data is inputted into a mobile device which is then capable of exporting directly into a centralized database for processing and analysis. The Census and Survey Processing System (CSPro) is a public domain software package used by hundreds of organizations and tens of thousands of individuals for entering, editing, tabulating, and disseminating census and survey data. CSPro is designed to be as user-friendly as possible, yet powerful enough to handle the most complex applications. CSPro supports data collection on android devices (phones and tablets). This training will equip the participants with skills to author survey questionnaire and manage mobile data collection platform using CSPro.

 

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course the participants will be able to:

• Competently create data dictionary and entry screens

• Effectively program checks and skips.

• Add, modify, verify and view cases (questionnaires).

• Identify and report structure, value, and consistency errors in questionnaire data.

• Understand and manage system data storage

• Produce tables

• Understand hierarchical file organization.

• Export collected data into other analysis software formats.

 

Who should enroll?

The course is useful for professionals who use data as part of their work and who need to make decisions from data analysis. This course does not assume prior knowledge of CSPro or any other data collection platform.
