The conference will explore the social, historical and cultural dimensions of medicine. It will promote an interdisciplinary perspective on health, illness, health care and the body. The conference will also focus on the issues relevant to medical knowledge, public health policy, the experience of being ill and of caring for those who are ill.
Papers are invited on topics related, but not limited, to:
history of medicine
medical anthropology
bioethics
sociology of medicine
medicine in literature and cultural studies
medicine and art
medicine and philosophy
health geography
medical education
We also welcome poster proposals on one of the conference themes.
The conference is addressed to academics, researchers and professionals with a particular interest related to the Medical Humanities. Proposals up to 250 words and a brief biographical note should be sent by 15 October 2019 to: [email protected]. Download Paper proposal form.
