TV COMEDIAN COMES TO SOUTHWELL.
Funhouse Comedy Club is back at the Saracens Head, Southwell on Thursday July 12th with an Edinburgh Festival Preview Special night of comedy.
Topping the bill is award-winning comedian Jo Caulfield, a genuinely witty and sharply observational comic, who is taking her show, Voodoo Doll up to Edinburgh in August. At 17 she left home and moved to London to sing and play drums in a Rockabilly band, even though she could actually do neither! In her first comedy open spot, which she won, she was drunk and decided to enter without any preparation at all! Since then she has gone from strength to strength appearing on TV in the likes of 'Have I Got News For you', 'Mock the Week', 'Saturday Night Live' and 'Never Mind The Buzzcocks'. Her presence is equally felt on Radio, having appeared on 'The News Quiz', Clive Anderson's Chat Room and recording her own programme for a number of years on Radio 4. Add to that TV warm-up and comedy writer for such people as Joan Rivers, Ant & Dec and Graham Norton, here is a very talented lady.
Opening the night will be Christian Reilly who at the age of 15 joined a band to get laid. The Salvation Army had different ideas! He became an integral part of the Perrier award-winning show Otis Lee Crenshaw and the Black Liars, with comic/songster Rich Hall and travelled the world 3 times. Now as a solo performer he both fascinates and amuses his audiences with his comic songs and witty tag lines.
Completing the line-up will be the very funny and highly talented Patrick Draper, who took the comedy world by storm after winning a string of new act competitions; with his deadpan delivery, witty one-liners, killer punch lines and ridiculous short stories.
Compere for the night is the amiable and animated Spiky Mike.
