This 12-week community-based online training programme provides utility technical teams with an understanding of how the common information model can be applied to integrate internal systems, connect with external organisation, and support flexibility markets with a standard approach to data exchange.
Through 12 x 90-minute modules this programme provides a thorough, up-to-date understanding of CIM, including: 1) Language and Terminology, including the core concepts, modelling languages, and terminology used by CIM in relation to grid systems, with an introduction to CIM profiles and extensions, 2) Use-Cases, including how CIM can be applied to help meet the evolving data-exchange requirements of the smart grid through detailed utility use-cases across transmission, distribution, generation, and consumption, 3) Implementation, including practical insights into applying CIM across grid-wide applications, and strategies for overcoming common technical and organisational barriers to successful adoption and implementation of CIM.
Each module is comprised of a speaker-led presentation, break-out group problem solving exercise, reporting back and Q&A, and a 10-question quiz. Participants accumulate points during the course of the 12 weeks and take a final exam to achieve CPD certification. The programme is overseen by Svein Olsen, Lead Member of IEC TC57 WG 13 and 14, delivered by leading CIM experts from utilities, OEMs, and leading lights in the academic world, and is certified by the CPD. Places are strictly limited to 30 to ensure an interactive learning environment.
