Diablo largely begins once the main story is complete

Diablo Immortal is certainly a blast. It plays great on mobile and features top-quality production qualities, especially for a phone game that's free D2R ladder items. It is entirely possible for casual players to play through and enjoy Diablo's main plot without having to purchase. However, as all fans know, Diablo largely begins once the main story is complete and Blizzard is capitalizing on the fact that it's a sequel to Diablo Immortal. 

The main issue with Diablo Immortal stems not from the fact that it has multiple microtransactions or that it's pay-to-win. It's a sad fact that instead of using Diablo's mobile debut to propel the landscape of mobile RPGs forward like Blizzard did with many genres over the years, instead it chose to embrace some of the worst practices that the platform has ever seen. 

Diablo Immortal's pay-towin mechanics motivate players to spend hundreds of dollars (or by one player's estimate as high as $80. 000) to get the maximum value of their character through Legendary Gems. The best item bundles in the game start as low as $1 , and contain made-up "value" percentages as high as 800 percent to lure players into. Then as players progress and more bundles become unlocked, the bundles start to rise in cost. 

Three separate paid services are offered to give players who are eager to invest more and gain an advantage over those who believed they'd be at a disadvantage by buying a single battle pass. There's even an endgame progression system that is based on opening more expensive loot box with keys that are also open using a unique currency purchased by paying a premium price. 

The list is endless. When you see players bombarding the game's chatroom looking to exclusively form groups with other pay-to-win "whales" (a term that is used to describe players who are spending huge sums of money in games for free buy d2r items, as compared to the typical player) This is a huge issue.
