OBJECTIVES OF THE WORKSHOP

  • To introduce participants to computer-aided design and manufacturing, including modelling and simulation contexts, as well as to provide hands-on-training in computer-aided manufacturing software.
  • To train the participants in the basics of CNC programming and machining techniques.
  • To demonstrate the working and critics of material removal process in CNC Vertical Machining Centre.

COURSE CONTENTS

  • Brief review on the variants of CNC machines and its coordinate systems including machining parameters and cutting tool strategies.
  • Comprehend the concepts of axis nomenclature and workpiece clamping systems used in CNC milling operations.
  • Introduction to computer aided design and manufacturing, including the fundamentals of modelling and simulation.
  • Overview on cutting tool nomenclature and criteria's to be considered in process parameter selection with live demonstration on tool path verification strategies.
  • Insights on CNC programing for basic milling operations including canned cycles and compensations for tool radius, length, offset, and wear rate.
  • Brief on the selection of nominal process parameters and its correlation with chip formation, surface finish, temperature distribution, cutting force and tool wear.
  • Live monitoring and real-time data interpolation of cutting force and tool wear using computer interface systems.

SESSION HIGHLIGHTS

  • A brief overview on the basics of process parameter selection with live demonstration using dynamometer illustrating the correlation between cutting force and process parameters.
  • Insights on temperature distribution strategies with live demonstration using thermal imager.
  • Technology overview on the application of machine vision systems and its use in monitoring tool wear.

REGISTRATION DETAILS

Registration fee for Students and Research Scholars: Rs. 1,200/- (inclusive of service tax)

Registrations can be made using the online registration link (or) with a Demand Draft for registration fee drawn in favour of “PSGCNCE” payable at Coimbatore.

Registration fee includes participation certificate, workshop kit, course materials (CD), refreshments and working lunch.

Registration has to be completed on or before 20/07/2022.

 

This programme is only for research scholars and engineering college students.

Total number of participants is limited to 30. Accommodation for workshop participants are available in College Hostel on chargeable basis.
