Development choices today influence the adaptive capacity of people and their governments well into the future. We cannot afford to delay adaptation planning and action. However, many development policies, plans, and projects currently do not take climate change into account due to a lack of awareness and clarity on how to effectively develop and integrate adaptation options.

Intended Attendees

Target groups for the course include administration officials and planners in agriculture, water, natural resources, climate change, as well as other relevant sectors, at national, provincial and local levels, national and international development cooperation staff (climate experts as well as sector specialists without a climate change background), local consultants on adaptation to climate change, NGO and civil society representatives.

Learning Objectives

The participants will learn:

  • what climate change is and how it is interlinked with development cooperation,
  • where to find relevant climate information and how to use it
  • how to think through systematic steps aiming at defining concrete adaptation options at national, sector, local and project levels,
  • how to define necessary institutional capacities to carry out a change process and
  • how to plan and support processes of mainstreaming adaptation to climate change in their institution.

Registration Fees Details
The individual cost for the training workshop is USD 1600 for individual participants and USD 1500 for groups above 10 participants exclusive of 16% VAT. This covers the training fee, resource materials, and conference package. Participants will be responsible for their own travel expenses and arrangements, such as airport transfers (and visa application, where necessary), food and accommodation, health/accident insurance, and other personal expenses.
