Annual Startup Event Arctic15 kicks off with 300+ investors

Arctic15 is an annual startup conference with a focus on matchmaking. The 3-day event is held in Helsinki, Finland on May 3-5. This year’s conference will focus on edtech, fintech, foodtech, health, data and AI, wearables, IoT and VR/AR.

The conference is designed to facilitate high-quality matchmaking and networking, with last year’s Arctic15 hosting over 3000 1-on-1 meetings within 48 hours. Besides ad-hoc meetings at the event, the Deal Room matchmaking tool enables attendees to pre-book 20-minute meetings with pre-screened contacts.

Arctic15 gets its name from the pitching contest that makes the centerpiece of the conference, in which the TOP 15 early-stage startups from the Nordics and Baltics

compete for a 50 000 euro syndication deal from the Finnish Business Angels Network (FIBAN). The pitching contest has introduced several of Northern Europe's most well-known startups to a wider audience, including Kiosked, Pipedrive, Infogr.am, Yousician, Transfluent and Entocube. To date, Arctic15 finalists have raised a total of 120 million euros.

This year, Arctic15 has brought an excellent lineup of top investors and startup entrepreneurs to Helsinki. Among the first speakers announced today are investors like Billy Draper (4th generation of venture capitalists, Draper Associates), Teddie Wardi (Truecaller, Klarna, Pipedrive) and Juho Aminoff (European Investment Fund). The speakers also include Aliexpress CTO Guo Dongbai and Michael Collier, Driver coach at McLaren.

“We make events to help not just the startups or the investors, but the whole ecosystem. With 40% of meetings leading to real deals, we hope to make a dent in the future of the Nordic and Baltic startup scene and perhaps - even the economy” says Dmitri Sarle, CEO of ArcticStartup.

On May 5, the event will also host X Reality Day - a special edition dedicated to virtual reality and augmented reality startups and applications. X Reality Day is supported by the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation TEKES and the Finnish Virtual Reality Association (FIVR).
