Join NYC-based artist Andrew Schneider and collaborators Margaux Marielle-Trehouart and Joel Suarez Gomez, members of Berlin-based Sasha Waltz and Guests dance company, for a workshop on the ways deep listening can impact the choreographic process. In this workshop, students will learn about the process of using in-ear devices, synching impulses, and face/voice choreography to create compositions. The workshop will run approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
No prior experience in Dance or Theatre is necessary to participate!
After a critically-acclaimed premiere of his latest installation/performance NOWISWHENEWARE (the stars), Andrew Schneider returns to his roots as a performer and theatermaker with a new evening-length work for the stage. The work in progress takes major inspiration from Richard McGuire's HERE (soon-to-be a major motion picture in 2024), and the scientific and philosophical concept of "Block Universe Theory" (Eternalism), to tell the story of the place you are in right now, and the innumerable lives, dreams, and travesties that have floated through our present over the eons of the earth's existence.
Andrew is joined in this process by collaborators Margaux Marielle-Trehouart and Joel Suarez Gomez who have previously worked with him on his evening-length dance piece REMAINS, commissioned by the Sasha Waltz and Guests dance company.
This workshop is part of the Gaudino Creative Residencies initiative and is supported by the Gaudino Fund along with the Departments of Theatre and Dance.
