This is a four week course run over consecutive Saturdays from 10:30 hrs to 13:00hrs. The course is designed for those participants with little or no experience of woodworking with a purpose of building your confidence and ability in using a range of woodworking tools and developing skills that can be transferable to home or DIY projects. We will also discuss sources and costs of buying appropriate tools and materials.

The core aims of the course are to:
- Learn the use and maintenance of a range of common woodworking hand tools.
- Develop your confidence and ability in planning and producing a woodwork project.
- Provide you with foundation skills that are transferable to the home or DIY.

There are five practice sessions included in the course then the building of a final project piece over weeks three and four. All soft wood materials and use of The Wood Pile's hand tools will be provided and included within the course fees; please note that there will be additional charges [at material cost] if you choose to use a hard wood as an alternative. You may provide your own materials if you choose.

There will be a maximum of 11 participants with a minimum of two tutors per course; light refreshments will be provided. Your health and safety within the workshop is of high importance to us at The Wood Pile therefore, we ask that you wear appropriate clothing and footwear during the course. No bags or personal possessions [other than mobile phones] are allowed in the workshop; we can provide secure storage for your personal items on request. Please note that if you miss a session then we are unable to provide extra tuition during course time. The project pieces and practice session items are pre-determined as part of the course and skill development and cannot be altered/varied.
