August 26, 1920, was when the right of women to vote was added to the US Constitution. In 1973, Women's Equality Day was proclaimed for that date by Bella Abzug. Meanwhile, that same year, the Equal Rights Amendment was ratified by New Mexico and added to the state’s constitution.
