A new multimedia art exhibition ‘Where the Line is Drawn’, includes paintings, drawings, 3d works and photography by renowned Ullapool Artist Peter White. Alongside beautiful and thought provoking artworks are words by Palestinian writer Raja Shehadeh. White’s powerful works explore the concept of ‘Where the Line is Drawn’. The title suggests the questioning of lines drawn between countries and encourages debate on current world events.
Peter White is a Scottish artist known for his textured paintings of seemingly simple subjects like heads, boats, books, or bowls. His work often explores the idea of these objects as vessels holding life or memory. His paintings are highly textured and almost sculptural, created using a technique of oil, acrylic, and wax on board. Born in Ayrshire in 1959, he studied at Edinburgh College of Art and has been based in Ullapool since 1994. Peter White has exhibited widely in Scotland and the UK, with works in prominent collections including the Fleming Foundation and the Royal Bank of Scotland. He has received numerous awards, including the Royal Scottish Academy Latimer Prize and the Oppenheim Prize.
Peter White last exhibited at An Talla Solais in 2018, we are delighted to welcome him back and to see the latest development of his ideas and practice over the past 7 years.
