On Tuesday, May 10 at 7:00 we will begin a 6-week journey of Christianity using MacCulloch's "History of Christianity: The First Three Thousand Years" as our guide and conversation generator. Our journey begins in 1,000 BCE with the Graeco-Roman context of Christianity and will end in the modern context of our more secularized world. In this series we will examine the philosophical, theological, cultural, political, and spiritual contexts in which Christianity was formed. By the end of our journey together we will see how Christianity shaped our world as it moved from being a small persecuted religious sect on the far reaches of the Roman Empire to becoming the most influential religious force in human history.
The series leader is Daniel Johnson, O.P.A. who, in addition to being an Episcopal priest, has studied Eastern philosophy extensively. His diverse background allows him to blend Western ideas and Eastern spirituality into a caring approach that you will find both stimulating and fun. His blog can be found at The Clochan.
