OVERVIEW:
For individuals to have a non-threatening environment to review, laugh and discover the methods how we view our world based on where we come from. We all come from a background of preference in values, lifestyle and attitudes. It is time to examine what we need to perpetuate and what we need to dispose of. We are more alike than we are different, but we all grew up with different cultures.

You should attend this course to find a friendly, open, honest dialogue on our differences and our sameness. We fear what we don't know, we are uncertain about other cultures so we shy away from them instead of being curious. Let's get curious.

 

We cannot deal with that which we are blind to. We are doomed to repeat what we do not acknowledge and set out to change. We will explore the origins of attitudes we use to make decisions, associate with other people and how we form our own expectations. This class speaks on diversity in the workplace and how to respect the heritage of others. We learn more about ourselves so that we have cultural empathy for others.

• We take our heritage wherever we go, even into the workplace. The Story of I am is the story of you.
• Transference and why it is important to relationships.
• Where do our expectations come from? Expectations for ourselves and expectations of others come from our heritage. We all think we're right.
• What preconceptions do we come into work with? Fairness? Unfairness? Authority? Openness or being closed to other cultures, entitlement, disadvantage?
• What's just below the surface? Is it healthy? Do we need to make it healthy?
• How open are you to other cultures? How can we learn to work together in a diverse community? Down to the gut level.
• Cultural Empathy. Trying to understand those who are different from us.
• Enriching our lives with appreciation of perspectives.
• What happened in his life? And what is he searching for?
