This annual Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's - Fond du Lac County has raised hundreds-of-thousands-of-dollars for care, support, and research. While there is no fee for Walking, participants are encouraged to raise critical funds before and after Walk Day, which are needed to fight Alzheimer's. This inspiring event starts at 8:30AM with breakfast snacks, kids' activities, music, greetings from local mascots, and photo-taking. The opening ceremony takes place at 9:45AM and calls upon participants of all ages and abilities to come together and join the fight against Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. The 2-mile Walk (or however far you want to go) begins at 10:00AM and leads all Walkers toward a day without Alzheimer's. The finish line brings enthusiastic cheers, root beer floats, and camaraderie among folks who share the unfortunate bond of having a loved one or friend affected by this disease. Participants describe this event as a heartwarming gathering that provides healing therapy to loved ones and caregivers alike, and one that they want to share-in year after year!
Unfortunately, community awareness, participation, and fundraising for this event continues to lag in the wake of the pandemic. So, we need more and new folks to join or (better yet) get a Team together to begin their own journey to end Alzheimer's!
Your health and safety are our top priorities. We will continue to closely monitor CDC, state and local guidelines to ensure Walk events adhere to the latest recommendations. Participants have the option to Walk at their own location, as well.
