In the age of connectivity, why are we more lonely than ever? The goal of Walk and Talk is to help people form new friendships that are more than screen-deep. This event was test-piloted elsewhere in America with great success; the first Florida Walk and Talk took place last month and immediately resonated with the community.
It'll occur at 7:43 PM at the Pier in downtown Saint Pete on Saturday, March 4th. We'll have a table set up by the Bending Arc-the big net installation with the colored lights.
The event's simple: 1) you'll write your name down on a slip of paper, 2) we'll mix up all the names in our magic microwave and then draw them in pairs, and 3) after your name's called, you'll walk and talk with your walky-talky (aka your conversation partner).
Maybe this will result in a new friend, a business connection, or a romantic interest. Maybe it'll just be an opportunity for two humans to listen to each other, and be heard. Maybe it's a chance to decrease division and remind one another of how much we share in common. All of these outcomes are success stories, and I'm so excited to hear yours after you attend.
