Celebrating 100 years of Nat King Cole with jazz singer/songwriter Orice Jenkins, Cuatro Puntos String Quartet, and the Music Moves Hartford Street Choir.
For the past year and a half, 35 Hartford residents who are homeless or housing/food insecure have come together to make music at "Cleo's Place" (the street name for the MANNA Community Meals soup kitchen at Christ Church Cathedral). They have sung all around Hartford for various concerts and community events. Now they are heading out of Hartford for the first time- and coming to Norwich!
The Music Moves Hartford Street Choir is joining Connecticut born and raised singer, songwriter, and pianist Orice Jenkins. Jenkins recently hit #11 on the international iTunes Jazz Chart. The title of the concert is Centennial Cole: 100 Years of Nat King Cole. Cole was most famous for songs like Unforgettable and The Christmas Song, but Jenkins will perform his own soulful arrangements of the less popular but nevertheless timeless tunes released on his Centennial Cole album.
Orice Jenkins and the Music Moves Hartford Street Choir will be joined by a live band and string quartet, making for a beautiful and intimate night of music.
The Music Moves Hartford Street Choir, founded by Cuatro Puntos and Christ Church Cathedral Hartford, visits Norwich as plans are solidified for a similar Music Moves Norwich program.
Please join us for this FREE concert at Christ Episcopal Church, 78 Washington St, Norwich, CT 06360, on Friday, October 4 at 7:00pm. There is no cost for admission, however an optional, freewill offering will be taken to support the Music Moves movement.
