For the September luncheon, we are excited to announce as our featured speaker - Roger Minami, Small Business Diversity Manager from Lawrence Berkeley Lab. He has served in the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) at both the Agriculture (USDA) and Transportation (DoT) Departments as a political appointee within the administration of President George W. Bush. While at USDA-OSDBU, Roger was part of a Group Honor Award for Excellence for small business achievement. He has managed small business programs at TriWest Healthcare Alliance (who managed the Department of Defense, Tricare healthcare program in the western half of the United States) and Baylor College of Medicine. Minami served as a 2nd Lt. in the Minnesota Army National Guard. He has a Bachelor's degree in Communications from the University of Southern California and a Master's in Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma.
He will be accompanied by Chad Bommer, Procurement Specialist with Riverside Community College District, Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC). Chad has extensive government contracting knowledge, with real-world experience as a project manager, general manager, owner, and consultant for over 10 years. He has been recognized many times by local Congressman, State Senators, and State Assembly for his mentorship in helping businesses win over $50MM in contracts. Chad graduated from California State University of Fullerton, with a degree in Business (Finance).Roger and Chad are going to review how small businesses can use the Federal Procurement Data System-Next Generation/FPDS-NG to search for business opportunities within the Federal Government.
