Thought-provoking exhibition from theatre art students at Colonnade House

Third year BA Theatre Arts students from Greater Brighton Metropolitan College at Northbrook College are delighted to be exhibiting their final year work at Colonnade House between Friday 24th and Sunday 26th May, and are inviting the local community to view their exciting projects. 

The exhibition features work from talented prop makers Christopher Sutton, Aaron Kealy and Aaron Mann, and costume designer Danielle Gossling, who have collaborated for a thought-provoking show. 

‘Earth’s First Settlers’ asks visitors to embark on a journey and explore the remnants of a civilisation, long since dead, which travelled to earth over 385 million years ago in pursuit of a new home. This ground-breaking exhibition showcases a number of objects that have enabled historians to piece together the remarkable story of the previously unknown alien race, the Paleoxénos. 

Through fossil evidence, it has been determined these people once flourished on earth in the late Devonian period having been forced to adapt their culture to survive, and operate in a world where life had only just begun to crawl out of the seas. Having extensively researched these remarkable finds, award-winning archaeologist and paleontologist Dr Arthur Ford has found a connection between some of history's more bizarre finds from across the globe. These discoveries, which once baffled scientists, are now being pieced together to paint a picture of the Paleoxenos, and for the first time are being unveiled to the public.

Christopher Sutton commented:  “Our exhibition reveals recurring themes in the cultures and societies of today that, if not dealt with properly, could lead to a very similar divide and demise. The show is designed to make visitors think and we’re excited to be showcasing our work.”

The exhibition takes place at Colonnade House art gallery in Worthing between Friday 24th and Sunday 26th May. It is free to visit and is open between 10am and 5pm each day.
