This workshop covers the basics of creating and developing your own comedy characters, for live and online performance!
In this two hour workshop we will help you use your own personal experiences to find comical characters, and shape them into monologues and sketches. The workshop is taught in a supportive, relaxed manner which encourages students to gently take the leap into turning their ideas into scripts and characters. We'll cover areas such as improvising, scripting, structuring a monologue, physicality and voice, audience interaction, working with stereotypes and putting your characters online. Plus tips on handling nerves, getting gigs and dealing with feedback.
This workshop is facilitated by Anna Morris, an award-winning character comedian, writer and actress. She's written five one-woman character comedy shows which have received critical acclaim and had sell-out runs in the UK and Australia. She's starred in Outnumbered, Count Arthur Strong, Bad Bridesmaid and most recently Channel 4's Lee and Dean.
Anna has her own web series on YouTube, Georgina's Wedding Blogs which features her most well known character. She's currently filming new BBC sitcom The First Team (from the creators of The Inbetweeners) and writing a new stand-up show, Kid-Life Crisis for BBC Radio 4.
