DAS Preschool Seminar 2020

As every child is unique in the way they learn, it is pivotal for the right strategies to be used to promote effective learning from the preschool age.

Back by popular demand for the eighth year, Preschool Seminar 2020 will be delivered online for the first time, for the safety of participants in light of COVID-19. The online format will also enable more participants to access the seminar from the comfort of their home!

Preschool Seminar 2020 is aimed at supporting preschool learners in overcoming pre-literacy challenges and putting them on a pathway to successful learning.

Designed for parents, educators and professionals who need to support preschool learners who are typically developing or at-risk of learning difficulties, it is organised by preschool professionals from the Specialised Educational Services, a division of the Dyslexia Association of Singapore (DAS).

The seminar’s speakers are experts in the field of early childhood education including pedagogy consultants, speech and language therapists and preschool educational therapists.

They will provide valuable insights into educating preschool children; and impart tips and tricks to support weaker learners. The rich programme includes:

• Keynote 1: Child Language Development: Perspectives of a Parent and Educator
• Keynote 2: Gifted and Challenged: Do these children really exist?
• Workshop 1: The Beauty of Multi-Sensory Activities
• Workshop 2: Let’s Form Our ABCs!
• Workshop 3: Engaging Children in Meaningful Conversations
• Workshop 4: The Creative Side Of Dyslexia: Why the freedom to play offers new opportunities for learning and development of 21st century skills

The two keynote addresses will be streamed live via ZOOM, followed by a Q&A session with keynote presenters and others from the preschool programme. Participants will be provided with presentation slides, handouts and a web link to ZOOM prior to the seminar.

The four workshops will be made available for viewing on YouTube for one week. A direct link will be shared with participants prior to the event.
