12th Annual Congress on Controversies in Ophthalmology: Europe (COPHy EU)

The COPHy EU program, returning to Lisbon in 2021, again will be devoted to evidence-based debates and discussions amongst session moderators, speakers and the audience, all of whom will examine and analyze the most relevant and controversial issues raised during the course of 2020 and 2021 within the field of ophthalmology. This educational Congress will focus on Retina, but will discuss controversies in other related areas of ophthalmology, including neuro-ophthalmology, ocular imaging, and uveitis.

Topics will include the medical and surgical treatment of retinal diseases including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, proliferative diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, pathologic myopia, and vitreomacular interface abnormalities, as well as advances in ophthalmic imaging, hereditary retinal diseases, surgical innovations, home monitoring, and the role of deep learning (artificial intelligence) in these conditions.
 
The Congress aims at reaching up-to-date recommendations to ongoing debates even when data remain limited, through evidence-based medicine, including expert opinion. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in this vibrant meeting which will facilitate discussions on the shared experiences and opinions of leading local and international experts.

The 12th COPHy EU Congress will emphasize issues related to the region in terms of diagnostics, distinctive responses to treatments and typical complications. Many of the Faculty members will be from Portugal and Spain in order to discuss these typical regional problems.
