Lifelines

Anita Anand, Gautam Bhatia, Alka Mathur and Punam Zutshi work in different mediums and on distinct themes.
In Anand's work the eye seeks its rest, not as a tourist does through photography, but as a journal writer does, in the joyous record and recall of travel and residence. For Mathur the reflective eye transforms the whirl of journeying and evanescence of events into an inner world. Zutsi uses mdf board she has chiseled to suggest patterned movement. Bhatia offers in bronze a counterpoint to the blinkered world we inhabit- people who are a background to life.

Their work offers the highlighting of contrary impulses: one records the beauty of the man-made and natural world; the other the alienating, spiritless factors in society. Both complete the picture of the world, each artist drawing upon their signature modes, their own lifelines
