43rd International Kolkata Book Fair

Books are the thing that makes people come together. People love to exchange ideas and knowledge which they have read. Kolkata being a place of culture and literates, organizes the most colourful and engaging fair- The International Book Fair. The fair is organised since 1976 and it is a winter fair.

It is not the kind of trade fair that we generally see, but a fair for the general mass where they can gather and chat over pile of books. The Kolkata Book Fair is considered to be Asia’s largest book fair in the world. It is also the world’s third largest annual conglomeration of books after the Frankfurt Book Fair and the London Book Fair. The fair is visited not only by the Kolkatans but is library to the foreigners during the few days.

The fairground offers a book flavour all around with singers, poets, candy floss vendors and many more. The fair witnessed a total footfall of 2.2 million people according to a report from Hindu. This year we can expect some more readers and tents to hop into the fairground.

Like every year, the theme of 2019 Book Fair is the heart of the Mayan World – Guatemala. The fair is commencing from 31st January and will continue till 11th February, 2019. It has been placed at the Central Park Mela Ground, Saltlake. Along many other book publishers, newspaper houses, and also education institutes, Brainware University has their stall placed in this year’s “Mela”. The stall number is 338 and addresses to any queries regarding career. It is suggested to visit the fair with friends and family.
