We humbly acknowledge that we are coming together on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples–Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and SÉ™lÌ“ílwÉ™taÊ”/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xÊ·mÉ™θkÊ·É™yÌ“É™m (Musqueam) Nations. Unceded means that this land was never given as a gift, traded, surrendered, relinquished or handed over in any way.

The Voices of the Oppressed coming together.

Call for Solidarity and Actions for Unity for ALL Minorities and Marginalized groups

To Whom it may concern,

We are a group of Punjabi youth trying to raise awareness about what is happening in India with what could be the largest protest in human history. We are organizing a Protest at the end of January, and would love for you to join us in educating the public in what your community/organization is fighting for/against. We envision this rally, "Voices of the oppressed" to be informative, unifying in all of our struggles, as well as steps from each community in how to be a better ally and stand up taller, in solidarity.

Inequality and injustice are obvious everywhere. Corporations, governments and authorities are working closely together, while we the people are scattered and divided. We want to bring the voices of the oppressed together here in the Coast Salish Territories. We are reaching out to Indigenous People, Black Lives Matter, Women's groups, Minorities and Marginalized groups, Refugees, Artists and Educators. We want to come together, share our histories of trauma and become better allies for each other. Our voices will be louder when they are united.

If you are not familiar with the story of the Farmers in India and their struggle, please find all the information below.

The fascist and corrupt government of Naredra Modi is pushing the farmers of Punjab to extinction with three new law ordinances, which fueled this gigantic protest with actions everywhere in the world. Modi has strong ties to billionaires Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani and their conglomerates are playing an important role in the destruction of Punjab.

BCI (British Columbia Investment Management Corporation) has been investing public funds towards a telecommunication tower project for Reliance Industrial Investments which is owned by Ambani. The Alberta Teachers' Retirement Fund Board owns stock in the Adani group. A number of Canadian companies are investors in the Adani group. Facebook is also an investor in Relliance-Jio and that is why the voices of the protesters are being silenced. This labyrinth of how interconnected billionaires and governments are, has no beginning or end.

SO THIS IS NOT ONLY ABOUT THE FARMERS IN INDIA.

They are not the only ones faced with oppression. Authoritative capitalism is destroying everything everywhere. Fascism is rising again. Colonization still has the world in stranglehold. Minorities are still facing erasure and genocide.

Solidarity might be the one thing that will save us.

With Respect,

The Youth diaspora of Punjab
