A year in isolation has fundamentally shifted how VERITE is approaching her world. As an independent artist, her career has always been an exploration of how to create and build outside traditional structures and the current landscape feels like familiar terrain for the artist, who's learned how to thrive while hustling in uncertainty. A prolific and "spellbinding" (NPR) songwriter, executive producer and performer, her independently produced albums, EPs and singles have garnered 350M+ streams across all platforms with 1M+ monthly listeners. Currently, she's focusing on the micro: building her community, honing her production skills and finding inspiration in the simplicity of her creative process. By Now is a stark, vulnerable statement from VERITE. The song's content is about a pronounced, personal depression. The song details the experience of overflowing-spilling over yourself, saying too much and the desire to feel seen. This release is also part of a larger experiment VERITE is working on, as she operates on the periphery of an antiquated music industry which has systematically extracted the value from music. Believing that financial investment in an artist and their work shouldn't equate to a loss of one's autonomy, VERITE is exploring the use of NFT's in reinvigorating that lost value.
