Come to the Memorial Union Terrace on July 26, and kick off a yearlong celebration of UW– Madison’s 175th anniversary (officially, a demisemiseptcentennial)!
In addition to the normal fun and food you find at Memorial Union Terrace on any given summer evening, this particular Wednesday will be lit (by fireworks, that is!) and you won’t want to miss this kickoff celebration.
4-6 p.m. – Free Babcock ice cream for the first 1,175 people from Wisconsin Alumni Association. After enjoying your ice cream, stop by the giant inflatable Bucky and snap your picture!
4:30-7 p.m. – Bring donations of non-perishable food items and personal hygiene products for The Open Seat, UW’s Student Food Pantry.
4:30-6 p.m. – Free live music with ‘80s new wave and college rock covers by local favorite, The Mersey Brothers featuring Sean Michael Dargan.
5-8 p.m. – In honor of the 175th anniversary, a new Bucky on Parade Statue will be debuted! Photo opportunities with the new Bucky will be available throughout the evening.
6:30-6:45 p.m. – A 5th Quarter performance by members of the UW Marching Band will have you wishing it was already fall.
7-9 p.m. – WUD Music’s Weekly Open Mic Night welcomes performers from our local community to perform their music, spoken word, poetry, dance, and more.
9:30 p.m. – Keep your eyes to the skies for a beautiful fireworks display over Lake Mendota.
