Treasure Coast Theatre, the only community theatre in Port St Lucie, presents this smash Broadway hit that was later made into an acclaimed film. In his Broadway playwriting debut, Academy Award winner Aaron Sorkin offers a biting yet entertaining look into the modern power plays of authority, sexism, politics, law, the military, and morality.
Two young Marines are accused of killing a fellow Marine on their base in Guantanamo Bay. Daniel Kaffee, a Navy lawyer more interested in softball games than the case, is chosen as their defense attorney. He expects a plea bargain and a cover-up of what really happened. However, he is prodded by Joanne Galloway, a female member of the defense team, to dig deeper. With her assistance and that of fellow Navy lawyer Sam Weinberg, Kaffee makes a valiant effort to defend his clients and, in so doing, puts the military mentality and the Marine code of honor on trial.
