Treasure Coast Theatre presents the classic Neil Simon comedy, "The Prisoner of Second Avenue"

Port St. Lucie, FL. Treasure Coast Theatre -- Port St. Lucie's only community theatre -- presents the classic Broadway hit, "The Prisoner of Second Avenue" written by Neil Simon.

The story revolves around the escalating problems of a middle-aged couple living on Second Avenue on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City. Mel Edison, has just lost his job after 22 years faithful service and now has to cope with being unemployed at middle age during an economic recession. The action occurs during an intense summer heat wave and a prolonged garbage strike, which exacerbates Edison's plight as he and his wife Edna deal with noisy and argumentative neighbors, loud sounds emanating from Manhattan streets up to their apartment, and even a broad-daylight burglary of their apartment. Mel can't find a job so Edna goes back to work. Mel eventually suffers a nervous breakdown and it is up to the loving care of his his wife Edna, brother Harry, and his sisters to try to restore him to a new reality.

"The Prisoner of Second Avenue" opens on Friday, June 3rd at 8pm. The show runs for three weekends from Friday, June 3rd to Sunday, June 19th. Performances are held at 8pm on Friday and Saturday and 2pm on Sunday. Tickets are $25. Please contact the box office for group sales and student pricing.

Treasure Coast Theatre is a new theatre located at 10175 South Federal Highway, Port St. Lucie, FL in the Town Centre Shopping Plaza. The theatre can accommodate 55 theatregoers, including up to 4 wheelchairs.
