As the world grapples with environmental and social challenges such as climate change, social inequality, and governance failures, the importance of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) considerations has never been more apparent. For banks, ESG is becoming an increasingly important aspect of doing business, as it can help to manage risks, enhance reputation, meet regulatory requirements, drive innovation and increase access to capital.

Given the influence of climate change, there is an urgent need to discuss how commercial banks can strengthen their risk management strategies to cope with climate change. According to The Economist Impact, the future of banking could entail a “climate action paradigm shift” instigated by pressures from consumers and investors. To succeed in this environment, banks will have to change their organizational cultures to integrate ESG issues into their strategy.

Focusing on the intersection of finance, sustainability, and risk management, this training will equip banking professionals with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the evolving landscape of ESG and climate change. It will also highlight and illustrate key ESG risks and opportunities, and bank lending and underwriting decisions.
