Time Travel Club: Excavating the Egyptians family day

100 years on from the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb, join the Time Travel Club as we take a look at everything ancient Egypt!

Throughout the day there will be exciting sessions looking at original documents for 8-11s, sensory and imaginative storytelling for 5-7s, and a wide range of drop-in craft activities; make your own amulet, decorate a miniature sarcophagus, or write in hieroglyphics.

Families will be able to learn, play and craft together whilst exploring Tutankhamun and Egypt, based upon documents in the collection and experts from The National Archives and the Griffith Institute.

The day will run from 10:30am – 3pm.  You can book tickets for the 8-11s and 5-7s sessions in advance, and the rest of the craft activities are free to drop-in to through the day. 

For bookable sessions adults go free. Only book tickets for the children attending.

The Griffith Institute was established in 1939 as a ‘permanent home for the study of ancient languages and antiquities of the Near East'.  Today, it is the centre of learning about Egypt at the University of Oxford.
