Lark, accompanied by Andrew Armstrong, piano, will perform a varied program for violin and piano that includes Bartok's Romanian Folk Dances, Schubert's Fantasy in C minor, Grieg's Sonata No. 3, and Ravel's Tzigane.
Violinist Tessa Lark, recipient of a 2018 Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship and a 2016 Avery Fisher Career Grant, is both a budding superstar in the classical realm and a highly acclaimed fiddler in the tradition of her native Kentucky. Since making her concerto debut with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra at sixteen, Lark has appeared with dozens of orchestras, festivals, and recital venues including Carnegie Hall, Ravinia, San Francisco Performances, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, the Buffalo Philharmonic, and Marlboro Music. In 2019, she premiered "Sky," a bluegrass-inspired concerto written by Michael Torke for Lark with the Albany (NY) Symphony Orchestra. The recording of "Sky" has been has been nominated for Grammy in the Best Classical Instrumental Solo category.
