Taste of the Junction Multicultural Festival is Labor Day Weekend in West Des Moines! The 2-day event kicks off with The Junction Speaks on Sept. 1st at the Valley Community Center, 4444 Fuller Road in West Des Moines. Since 2013, The Junction Speaks has revealed and preserved the rich multicultural oral histories of the families who built a tight-knit community in Valley Junction. The tradition continues in 2023 with a live experience of storytelling, slideshows, video presentations and a commissioned art display by Julia Roland, a fifth-generation descendant. On Sept. 2nd the Outdoor Festival begins at 2pm in Railroad Park in the Historic Valley Junction in West Des Moines. There will be Arts and Crafts, Kids Fun Zone, Food Vendors, Ice Cold Beverages and more. Then, put on your dancin' shoes for LIVE Music with The Get Down Band opening on stage at 5pm followed by the headliner, Sumpin Doo with special guest saxophonist, Walter Chancellor, Jr. The events are FREE and Open to the Public. All are Welcome. Join us!
