JAERV
The award-winning Swedish quintet Jaerv presents extroverted, vigorous, and heartfelt folk music with influences from both jazz and pop music. Together, the five members have created a homogeneous, vivid sound that has established Jaerv on the folk music scene. Rooted in several different musical traditions, Jaerv offers a varied stage performance where five-voiced tunes blend in with energetic dances and free improvisations. This internationally renowned group has previously performed in Swedesburg in 2019.  www.jaerv.com/press
"They are singing, playing, storytelling and are so terribly good. The audience is knocked out by their performance!" Susanne Rydén - Royal Academy of Music

Vidar
Vidar is a Nordic folk musician who plays guitar, hardanger fiddle, fiddle, mandolin, and Greek bouzouki. He is a leading musician in the Nordic folk music scene and a popular tune writer. He has a background in the traditional music of Norway, including a master's degree in Nordic folk music from the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. Vidar has been heard on radio across the Nordic countries and throughout the USA. Vidar will perform on Saturday at the SHS 30th Anniversary Celebration as well as provide fiddle lessons and explanations of Nordic musical instruments. www.vidarskrede.com

Viking Reenactment presented by The Skjaldborg
The Skjaldborg, a Viking living history and combat group, will be demonstrating the everyday life of common Scandinavian people as well as the infamous warriors, the Vikings. Skjaldborg, which means "shieldwall" or "fortress of shields" in Old Norse, hail from Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio, Missouri, and Wisconsin. The group was established in 1994 and participates annually in Tivoli Fest, semi-annual events at Ravensborg Viking Longfort, Nordic Fest, Days of Knights, and more.
The group will be sharing a view into Scandinavian heritage that will include live, steel combat demonstrations showcasing weapons and armor of the Viking Age. The combat demonstrations will also give insight into the differences and variations of cultures influenced by and descended from the Scandinavians. The warriors and artisans will be offering insights into how the people of the time survived and thrived.
Viking Captain of The Skjaldborg Derek Bowman says, "We will be teaching as we are demonstrating our crafts and skills as we try to entertain the public. The Vikings came from what we know today to be Sweden, Denmark, and Norway and spread across most of Europe, becoming famous for raiding and pillaging but also for their trading and connections made between far-off people. We hope to start a historical fire or love of Viking and Scandinavian history in all who attend the 30-year anniversary celebration."
