Guess what? Summer has come early. Join us for some mid-winter warmth featuring soprano Kelley Hollis in Samuel Barber's Knoxville, Summer of 1915. Barber paints an idyllic, nostalgic picture of Knoxville, Tennessee based on text by James Agee. The work is a simple, dreamlike depiction of an evening in the American South, narrated by a child. The CCCO will also perform the Andante movement from Florence Price's String Quartet No. 1, concluding with Charles Ives' trip to camp with his Third Symphony "The Camp Meeting".

This concert is in part a benefit for WE CAN (Women's Empowerment through Cape Area Networking).

Kelley Hollis is a soprano featured on the recently released LP: 'Rosner's Requiem' performing with the London Philharmonic Orchestra (Toccata Records 2020). In 2018 she was invited to perform a concert at the Prague Castle in the Czech Republic, along with a series of recitals in cities around the country, as a featured artist with the Americke jaro festival. Her opera credits include: Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, Juana in the premiere of Omar Najmi's En el ardiente oscuridad, Mimi in Puccini's La bohème, Beth in Adamo's Little Women, Eliza in Muhly's Dark Sisters; Florencia Grimaldi in Catan's Florencia en el Amazonas, Donna Anna in Mozart's Don Giovanni, Micaela in Le Tragedie de Carmen, Harper in Eotvos' Angels in America and Nina in Pasatieri's The Seagull. Home in Boston, Kelley is singer-in-residence for Juventas New Music Ensemble and performs regularly with Opera on Tap Boston and Boston Baroque. She's a graduate of the Boston University Opera Institute and received both her Master's and Bachelor's degrees from Northwestern University. Learn more at KelleyHollis.com
