Atlanta's Rare Birds imperiously rule the wave ...
Considerable amounts of hoo-ha have been generated this side of the pond about 'new waves' of classic rock (or rock'n'roll or whatever the latest variant is) but, to Plunger's ears at least, these are all mere ripples compared to the tsunami that is Rare Birds and their new release ATL. Their long-awaited full-album debut is chock-full of meaty, beaty, big and bouncy originals inspired by the best 70s rock, blues, gospel and soul, done with the kind of verve and seemingly effortless ease that British bands try so hard to replicate (with varying degrees of success).
Rare Birds are: Shawn Thacker, drums and percussion; Brandon Neal, vocals and guitar; Ben Jerkins, bass and vocals; Andrew Cylar, guitar.

- Put "Wild Leap Atlanta Parking" into Google Maps to get there.
- If you see the Wild Leap / Lofts at Centennial Yards building on your right, drive past the stop light at the Peters street bridge and make an immediate curved right under the bridge into a parking lot.
- This parking is for both for residents of the apartment and retail visitors. Please look for the green signage straight ahead outlining where the retail spots begin (the spots will have green signs).
