This special screening of the documentary, Denouement: A History of Sift, will be graciously hosted at The Idiot Box in Greensboro, NC on August 19, 2023 at 6:00pm. Doors will open at 5:30pm, so come out early, have a drink, and preview some of the music on the final Sift album before the screening.
Local Greensboro filmmaker, Tumaini Johnson, used past live footage and new interviews to cover the 30-year history of the band. Through the early-90s exposition to the complication and climax, and finally the denouement, his 45-minute film delivers the Sift story arc in a compelling and unflinching manner.
Sift will release their final albumalbum, Denouement, at the end of August 2023. Sift began the album process in 2019 with the intention of releasing this album and opening a live music space in Greensboro, NC to support local music.
In September of 2020, Justin Burmeister (guitar) was diagnosed with cancer. He passed away in November of that year. The album tracks were completed in 2023 and represent the final collaborative efforts of Justin Burmeister and Curt Meinhold (bass) as well as the end of the Sift project.
There will be copies of the vinyl album for sale at the event. Official release on vinyl and all digital platforms is August 31, 2023.
