Open Saturday 13 - Tuesday 16 November 2021 between 10am - 5pm. Timed entry slots (6 people per slot) - Booking Essential.
Format: Self-guided app based tours, plus one live performance by the sound artists each day.
Audience: 12+ years

The wooden panelled Court Room at Senate House will play host to a reimagining of the historic National Laboratory of Psychical Research 1925-1930 by the celebrated paranormal investigator Harry Price.

Inside the room you will encounter laboratory equipment and toy instruments that were used to detect the activity of unseen psychic forces. Using your smartphone and headphones via a specially created app, you will hear evidence of spirit activity as recorded in laboratory notes held in the Harry Price Collection at Senate House Library. You may even hear the ghost of Harry Price himself!

The Laboratory of Psychical Research is a new sound installation created by Aleksander Kolkowski, kitt price and Laurence Cliffe produced especially for the Being Human Festival and hosted with Senate House Library. This is mostly a self-guided app based sound installation but there is one special live performance by the sound artists in the Court Room each day.

IMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION: You will need to bring your own smartphone and headphones to fully experience the Sound Installation.

About the project:
This Sound Installation is part of the Media of Mediumship project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, and follows on from the Popular Occulture in Britain, 1875-1947 research network.
