Smart Grid Network Planning 2020 will bring together planning professionals from smart utilities for 3 days of intensive case-study reviews. Through peer-to-peer exchange participants will gain strategies to solve the capacity challenges posed by the electrification of heat and transport, urbanisation, microgeneration and renewable integration, to enable net zero carbon emissions, at minimal expenditure and within strict target deadlines. This event provides the only utility-lead forum for determining strategies to integrate flexibility into the grid to drive operational efficiency without the need for expensive infrastructure investment. Participants will establish the optimal digitalisation pathway for their planning processes to fully capitalise on crucial dataflows, scale up power system analytics and cost-effectively optimise their grid environment.
Presentations will also detail state-of-the-art network simulation tools to better inform network models, plan for multiple DER integration scenarios, accurately forecast demand patterns and successfully prioritise investment decisions. Alongside a utility panel on innovation within planning processes, there is a technology innovation panel covering simulation tools and next-generation power electronics. Discussions will centre around designing a future-proofed, digitised and decarbonised smart grid with minimal disruption
