Colonial Beach Greenspace and CB Parks and Rec Department are hosting a "Sing the Bay" Concert to benefit the Oyster Wars and Berkeley Muse Historical Marker Fund. From pirates to Point Lookout, the music of Janie Meneely celebrates the maritime history, characters, and traditions of the Chesapeake Bay. She and her partner, Rob Van Sante, will present an afternoon of songs and stories about the Chesapeake Bay at the Colonial Beach Community Center outdoor stage on Friday, May 13th from 4-6 PM. This is an outdoor event - please bring lawn chairs, blanket, and cooler. The Oyster Wars are precisely what brings Janie to Colonial Beach. When she first heard about the death of Berkeley Muse, the last fatality of the Oyster Wars, she did some research and got to work. Her songs include The Ballad of Berkeley Muse and The Oyster Wives. Aimee's Sandwiches Food Truck will be onsite.
