The Seventh Annual Owen Galluzzo Memorial Picnic and Wiffle Ball Classic

Join us for the Seventh Annual Owen Galluzzo Memorial Picnic and Wiffle Ball Classic on September 4, 2023 from 12-5 at War Memorial Park in Sewickley, Pa! The family-friendly fun-filled event includes bounce houses, face painting, ice cream and hot dogs, spin art, bead stringing, a home run derby, a gigantic wiffle ball tournament, and a basker auction (70+ baskets)! The Owen Galluzzo Memorial Fund was created in 2014 after 9 year-old Owen Galluzzo died following open heart surgery. People from far and wide that were touched by Owen's kindness asked what they could do in the wake of his passing. As a result, the fund was created and is housed by the Pittsburgh Foundation. The mission of the Owen Galluzzo Memorial Fund is to support non-profit organizations that enrich the lives of medically fragile children like Owen was. We have given to two amazing organizations that helped to make Owen feel special, Beads of Courage and Team Impact. Beads of Courage provides children with medical illnesses with glass blown beads to mark every aspect of their medical journey and to help them tell their story of bravery. Owen had hundreds of beads and was very proud of them. Team Impact is a non-profit that matches medically ill children with college sports teams. Owen was "drafted" by the University of Pittsburgh's Baseball team the spring before he died. The coach and team members made him feel like he was a real member of the team and this meant everything to him. The annual event is the sole fundraiser for this fund and we hope that you will join us to support a good cause and have a wonderful day with your family at the same time!
