THROUGH HISTORY INTO TODAY - HELLENIC FOOD AND CULTURE
Saint Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Melbourne, Florida hosts its 51st annual Greek Festival - Brevard's longest-running food and cultural event - February 24-26, 2023. This year's GreekFEST+ features live Greek music all festival long, and the award-winning Grecian Odyssey folk dance troupe performing multiple times daily. Church tours also run daily where you can learn about Orthodoxy and how it's illustrated through its Liturgical art, fashion and services. Thousands of years of Hellenic history and culture are proudly presented through Greece’s vibrant culinary heritage and world-famous 'filotimo'!
Part of the 'Culinary Grand Tour' takes you to the KOUZINA Kitchen's signature Lamb Shanks and other notable Greek dishes prepared on site, the GYRO and SOUVLAKI street food station serving the classics we all love, the MEZE lounge turning out the old favorites such as Loukaniko, Spanakopita, Dolmathes and flaming Saganaki - OPA! Next door, the TAVERNA Bar serves up the popular Mythos and Fix beers, as well as various wines and liquor from different regions of the Hellenic peninsula and the islands.
To satisfy your sweet tooth, first pop into the popular ZACHAROPLASTIO bakery for an awesome array of Greek pastries (Baklava, Koulourakia, Kourambiedes and Diples) and the wonderful Tsoureki sweet bread baked by the monastic Orthodox nuns from Ocala, Florida - then stop at the KAFENIO and take a break 'Greek-style' sipping that beautiful Nescafe frappe, our own Briki brand of signature roasts or for the strong-of-heart a demitasse cup of Loumidis Greek Coffee - paired with a bowl of Loukoumades, the served-hot honey and cinnamon-drenched 'donuts'.
To bring a little of GreekFEST+ home, shop in the AGORA marketplace tent where vendors come from all over the country and beyond.
