Join the New Bedford Whaling Museum in celebrating Massachusetts photographer and artist Norman Fortier (1910-2010) on June 7 as the museum opens the exhibition "The Photographer's Brush: Watercolors by Norman Fortier." Best known nationally as a photographer, Fortier was also a talented watercolorist with a gifted eye for light and composition. "The Photographer's Brush" showcases charming watercolor renderings of boats, people, and places in Padanaram, Massachusetts, and farther afield, many on loan from the private collections of his friends, family, and patrons. A talk by long-time friend of the artist Edward Howland will begin at 6:45 pm, part of the Sailors' Series lectures, supported by Ruth and Hope Atkinson. Reception and exhibition viewing begin at 6 pm. Additional support for Sailors' Series is provided by Babbitt Steam Specialty and Burr Brothers Boats.
