Root Ball 2023: Ante Up for Derby Day

Please join Late Bloomers Garden Club and Greenscape of Jacksonville for "The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports" as we watch the 149th Kentucky Derby race on Saturday, May 6, 2023.

"Ante Up for Derby Day" is the theme for this year's ROOT BALL, which will also feature casino games, frosty mint juleps, a bourbon bar, and Derby-inspired buffet. Casino games include several blackjack tables, roulette, and craps. A silent and live auction, DJ, and other Derby-themed activities will round out the event. Ann Hicks, community benefactor, and philanthropist is the Honorary Chair. Garrett Bedenbaugh, a First Alert meteorologist for Action News Jax is the emcee for the evening.

This year's co-chairs are Tiffany Davis, Sally Ragsdale and Debbie Early. Davis is a Greenscape board member and Ragsdale and Early are members of Late Bloomers Garden Club.

Since 2007, Late Bloomers Garden Club has partnered with Greenscape to produce the Root Ball, Greenscape of Jacksonville's annual fundraiser. Funds raised through this event assist in the ongoing operation of one of the nation's longest-running tree groups that has provided education, advocacy, and trees in the ground right here in our city, for more than 48 years.
